PROJECTS

This section highlights the instructional design projects I've created.

INSTRUCTIONAL DESIGN PROJECT

The following is a course that I completed on the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS). This project aims to demonstrate effective instructional design principles and practices in an online learning environment.

Through thoughtful planning and implementation, I've crafted engaging and interactive instructional materials to facilitate learning. I encourage you to explore the innovative approaches to education, showcasing the potential of effective instructional design in the digital realm.

How to ACCESS THE course:

The course I created, entitled PHT 201: Exposure Triangle in Photography has enabled open enrollment. You can self-enroll in the course using this URL:

Enroll in Exposure Triangle in Photography

1. If you are not logged into Canvas, you'll be prompted to add your email and click "I am a new user" or "I already have a Free for Teacher login.

2. Agree to AUP, click "I'm not a robot", then click the blue button labeled "Enroll in Course" at the bottom right.

3. Click the blue button labeled "Go to the Course" at the top right.

Note: This course was designed under the fictional art school called "Yousuf Karsh Photography School" where students can take elearning courses in photography. They received a "school-issued" DSLR camera with the first year of tuition and fees. This enables the hands-on, constructivist approach. This is a 5 week course, enabling the school to have a Fall/Spring A, B, and C and a Summer A and B with no overlap.

audio/visual project

As part of a larger course on video production, I created this video tutorial to show the learner how a video can be produced using the acronym WALLDO.

WALLDO stands for Wide, Angled, Low, Linking, Depth, and Opposite. Included in this project is the storyboard for planning purposes and the completed video that was produced using royalty-free images, video, music, and sound effects.

Training proJECT

Below is an embedded course of the One Button Studio (OBS) Comprehensive Training Program. Overseen by the Faculty Center for Teaching and Learning (FCTL), OBS allows instructors the ability to produce multimedia seamlessly. However, staff at FCTL faced challenges stemming from limited expertise availability and time constraints, confining its accessibility to standard business hours. In response, my initiative was created to empower FCTL staff with comprehensive training.

Through an online curriculum delivered via Articulate Rise, FCTL staff will be trained to unlock OBS's full potential. By expanding expertise and refining training materials, the goal is to elevate OBS utilization by 20% within the academic year 2023-24.

In addition to the course above, I created a series of three printable PDFs that show staff and faculty step by step procedures of using the One Button Studio. You can view these training documents below.

redesigned training PROJECT

House Bill 298 was signed into law by Gov. Andy Beshear on April 24, 2020. This bill is a critical step forward in addressing policies and procedures surrounding police vehicle pursuits and training in emergency vehicle operation within the Commonwealth. During my Spring 2024 internship at the Department of Criminal Justice Training (DOCJT), I was tasked with the redesign of a required 4 hour course.

Under the mandate of House Bill 298, each law enforcement agency is required to adopt, implement, enforce, and maintain written policies that establish standards and procedures for the vehicular pursuit of any individual suspected of violating the laws of the state. In compliance with this legislation, our redesigned training program aims to ensure that law enforcement personnel are equipped with the knowledge, skills, and best practices necessary to navigate these situations safely and effectively.

Through this training, officers will engage in comprehensive learning experiences designed to enhance their understanding of pursuit policies, refine their emergency vehicle operation techniques, and foster a culture of accountability and responsibility in pursuit situations. The goal is to empower law enforcement professionals to make informed decisions, mitigate risks, and prioritize public safety while upholding the principles of justice and integrity.

Due to the confidential nature of some of the material presented in the training course, I can only show my Course Design Plan (CDP) and a brief presentation of the redesign process, both displayed below.

Hybrid learning course

Below is a presentation about a training program I designed to address the critical issue of unemployment and underemployment within the homeless community. The training I developed using the Articulate Rise authoring tool and the Blackboard Learning Management System (LMS) is highly focused on enhancing employability skills, with the primary objective of equipping individuals with the necessary tools to secure stable employment opportunities with livable wages.

Structured into three comprehensive units, encompassing nine modules, my training program offers a tailored approach to skill development and career readiness. The interactive learning activities, practical exercises, and personalized support are designed to take place in a hybrid environment such a homeless shelter and library with online access. Click "Start Course" below to access the Articulate Rise course.

Below is a presentation describing how learners would access this course via the Blackboard LMS and through the linked Articulate modules.
